The XT6 1st Gen ran from 2020-2023 and is three-row Cadillac. After enough of these come across the parts counter you start to see the same short list of components over and over. Here is what owners of this generation actually end up buying, and what to know before you order.
Suspension
The usual tell is the nose diving noticeably further under braking than it did new. Worth checking at the same time you rotate tires, since the wheel is already off.
Common parts in this group: shocks, struts, control arms, ball joints, sway bar links.
Worth knowing: Ball joint and control arm geometry sets your alignment range, and an out-of-spec part can make a correct alignment impossible.
Electrical and Charging
The usual tell is power windows or seats getting slower over a season. Mileage is a rough guide here. Load, heat and road surface matter more.
Common parts in this group: batteries, battery cables, alternators, starters, body control modules.
Worth knowing: Auxiliary and stop-start systems use AGM batteries, and dropping a flooded battery in is a short path to a repeat failure.
Filters and Fluids
The usual tell is a slight hesitation on hard acceleration with a dirty air filter. Heat is the accelerant on this one, which is why it shows up faster here than up north.
Common parts in this group: oil filters, air filters, cabin air filters, fuel filters, transmission filters.
Worth knowing: GM oil filters are built to a specific bypass pressure and anti-drainback valve spec, which matters most on cold starts.
Sensors, Cameras and Driver Assistance
The usual tell is a park assist system that disables itself in cold weather and comes back warm. Heat is the accelerant on this one, which is why it shows up faster here than up north.
Common parts in this group: park assist sensors, backup cameras, blind zone modules, front camera modules, radar sensors.
Worth knowing: TPMS sensors have to match the protocol and frequency the receiver expects.
Drivetrain and Transfer Case
The usual tell is a hum that changes with steering input, which usually points at a wheel bearing. Mileage is a rough guide here. Load, heat and road surface matter more.
Common parts in this group: transfer case encoder motors, front differential actuators, u-joints, CV axles, driveshaft center bearings.
Worth knowing: Transfer case shift motors and encoders are matched to the specific case, and the module reads their position directly.
Ignition and Engine Management
The usual tell is fuel economy that drifts down a mile or two per gallon over a few months. Mileage is a rough guide here. Load, heat and road surface matter more.
Common parts in this group: spark plugs, ignition coils, camshaft position sensors, crankshaft position sensors, oxygen sensors.
Worth knowing: Plug gap, heat range and electrode material are specified per engine, and GM’s Active Fuel Management and Dynamic Fuel Management engines are sensitive to it.
Before You Order
- Have the VIN ready. On a XT6 the same model year can carry two or three different engines and several suspension packages.
- Check the SPID label in the glove box or console for your RPO codes.
- Front and rear parts are rarely the same number, even when they look identical.
- If the part is electrical, confirm the fit before you order. Electrical parts are not returnable at any GM dealer, including us.
Shops and fleets can set up wholesale pricing at gmpartsclub.com/wholesale. Everyone else can start at our Cadillac OEM parts catalog or search for XT6 parts.
