The Lyriq 1st Gen ran from 2023-2025 and is the first Ultium Cadillac. After enough of these come across the parts counter you start to see the same short list of components over and over. Here is what owners of this generation actually end up buying, and what to know before you order.
Sensors, Cameras and Driver Assistance
The usual tell is a park assist system that disables itself in cold weather and comes back warm. Heat is the accelerant on this one, which is why it shows up faster here than up north.
Common parts in this group: park assist sensors, backup cameras, blind zone modules, front camera modules, radar sensors.
Worth knowing: These are calibrated devices, and the calibration lives in the module that expects a specific sensor.
Ignition and Engine Management
The usual tell is a misfire code that follows the coil when you swap it to another cylinder. Catch it early and it is a parts bill. Ignore it and it becomes a parts and labor bill.
Common parts in this group: spark plugs, ignition coils, camshaft position sensors, crankshaft position sensors, oxygen sensors.
Worth knowing: Plug gap, heat range and electrode material are specified per engine, and GM’s Active Fuel Management and Dynamic Fuel Management engines are sensitive to it.
Electrical and Charging
The usual tell is a battery that tests fine at the counter but fails after sitting three days. Mileage is a rough guide here. Load, heat and road surface matter more.
Common parts in this group: batteries, battery cables, alternators, starters, body control modules.
Worth knowing: Many recent GM vehicles need the new battery registered to the module or the charging system will keep undercharging it.
Suspension
The usual tell is a ride height that sits lower on one corner. Heat is the accelerant on this one, which is why it shows up faster here than up north.
Common parts in this group: shocks, struts, control arms, ball joints, sway bar links.
Worth knowing: GM valving is tuned to the specific spring rate and curb weight of your trim, and a generic replacement changes the whole balance.
Heating and Air Conditioning
The usual tell is vents that will not switch from defrost to floor. Heat is the accelerant on this one, which is why it shows up faster here than up north.
Common parts in this group: cabin air filters, blower motors, blower motor resistors, A/C compressors, condensers.
Worth knowing: Blend door actuators are calibrated position devices, and the module learns their travel; generic units frequently will not calibrate.
Cooling System
The usual tell is a heater that blows cool at idle and warm at speed. Heat is the accelerant on this one, which is why it shows up faster here than up north.
Common parts in this group: radiators, water pumps, thermostats, coolant hoses, cooling fans.
Worth knowing: Surge tanks and caps are pressure-rated to the specific system, and a wrong cap is a slow way to cook a head gasket.
Before You Order
- Have the VIN ready. On a Lyriq the same model year can carry two or three different engines and several suspension packages.
- Check the SPID label in the glove box or console for your RPO codes.
- Front and rear parts are rarely the same number, even when they look identical.
- If the part is electrical, confirm the fit before you order. Electrical parts are not returnable at any GM dealer, including us.
