Suspension

The usual tell is a ride height that sits lower on one corner. Mileage is a rough guide here. Load, heat and road surface matter more.

Common parts in this group: shocks, struts, control arms, ball joints, sway bar links.

Worth knowing: GM valving is tuned to the specific spring rate and curb weight of your trim, and a generic replacement changes the whole balance.

Exhaust and Emissions

The usual tell is a P0420 or P0430 efficiency code. The number in the manual assumes conditions most people in North Texas do not have.

Common parts in this group: catalytic converters, oxygen sensors, DEF injectors, diesel particulate filters, EVAP purge valves.

Worth knowing: Diesel aftertreatment parts are tightly integrated with the calibration.

Sensors, Cameras and Driver Assistance

The usual tell is a backup camera image that flickers, goes blue, or shows lines. How the vehicle gets used moves this interval more than the odometer does.

Common parts in this group: park assist sensors, backup cameras, blind zone modules, front camera modules, radar sensors.

Worth knowing: These are calibrated devices, and the calibration lives in the module that expects a specific sensor.

Ignition and Engine Management

The usual tell is a misfire code that follows the coil when you swap it to another cylinder. How the vehicle gets used moves this interval more than the odometer does.

Common parts in this group: spark plugs, ignition coils, camshaft position sensors, crankshaft position sensors, oxygen sensors.

Worth knowing: Oxygen sensor response time is what the fuel trim strategy is built around; slow generic sensors cause driveability problems that never set a clean code.

Heating and Air Conditioning

The usual tell is a musty smell for the first thirty seconds after startup. Catch it early and it is a parts bill. Ignore it and it becomes a parts and labor bill.

Common parts in this group: cabin air filters, blower motors, blower motor resistors, A/C compressors, condensers.

Worth knowing: Blend door actuators are calibrated position devices, and the module learns their travel; generic units frequently will not calibrate.

Electrical and Charging

The usual tell is a battery that tests fine at the counter but fails after sitting three days. Worth checking at the same time you rotate tires, since the wheel is already off.

Common parts in this group: batteries, battery cables, alternators, starters, body control modules.

Worth knowing: Many recent GM vehicles need the new battery registered to the module or the charging system will keep undercharging it.

Before You Order

Have the VIN ready. On a Silverado EV the same model year can carry two or three different engines and several suspension packages.
Check the SPID label in the glove box or console for your RPO codes.
Front and rear parts are rarely the same number, even when they look identical.
