Common Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Replacement Parts, 2014-2018

Common Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Replacement Parts, 2014-2018 - GM Parts Club

The Silverado 1500 K2XX ran from 2014-2018 and is the generation that introduced the 8-speed and heavy aluminum content. After enough of these come across the parts counter you start to see the same short list of components over and over. Here is what owners of this generation actually end up buying, and what to know before you order.

Cooling System

The usual tell is having to top off the surge tank more than once a year. Mileage is a rough guide here. Load, heat and road surface matter more.

Common parts in this group: radiators, water pumps, thermostats, coolant hoses, cooling fans.

Worth knowing: Aftermarket radiators frequently use fewer rows or thinner tanks than the original, which shows up as a heat problem only when you tow.

Body and Exterior

The usual tell is a mirror that shakes at highway speed after a folding motor fails. The number in the manual assumes conditions most people in North Texas do not have.

Common parts in this group: mirrors, door handles, grilles, bumper covers, headlamps.

Worth knowing: Factory paint codes only work if the substrate and primer are the same.

Glass and Wipers

The usual tell is a washer pump you can hear running with nothing coming out. Mileage is a rough guide here. Load, heat and road surface matter more.

Common parts in this group: wiper blades, wiper transmissions, wiper motors, washer pumps, rain sensors.

Worth knowing: GM wiper arms and blades are matched to the specific windshield curvature, and length is not the only variable.

Filters and Fluids

The usual tell is reduced airflow from the vents. This is one of the items where a towing or work truck and a commuter diverge sharply.

Common parts in this group: oil filters, air filters, cabin air filters, fuel filters, transmission filters.

Worth knowing: GM oil filters are built to a specific bypass pressure and anti-drainback valve spec, which matters most on cold starts.

Drivetrain and Transfer Case

The usual tell is a clunk on the transition from drive to reverse. Mileage is a rough guide here. Load, heat and road surface matter more.

Common parts in this group: transfer case encoder motors, front differential actuators, u-joints, CV axles, driveshaft center bearings.

Worth knowing: Wheel bearings on modern GM trucks carry the wheel speed sensor in the same assembly, and sensor tolerance affects ABS and stability control.

Heating and Air Conditioning

The usual tell is air that only blows on the highest fan setting. Owners who do mostly short trips see this sooner than the mileage suggests.

Common parts in this group: cabin air filters, blower motors, blower motor resistors, A/C compressors, condensers.

Worth knowing: Condenser and evaporator core dimensions are specific, and a near-fit leaks at the seal.

Before You Order

  • Have the VIN ready. On a Silverado 1500 the same model year can carry two or three different engines and several suspension packages.
  • Check the SPID label in the glove box or console for your RPO codes.
  • Front and rear parts are rarely the same number, even when they look identical.
  • If the part is electrical, confirm the fit before you order. Electrical parts are not returnable at any GM dealer, including us.

Everything here is available as a genuine GM part through our Chevrolet OEM parts catalog. If you would rather search directly, search for Silverado 1500 parts.
