2007-2013 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Parts Guide: What Owners Replace First

2007-2013 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Parts Guide: What Owners Replace First - GM Parts Club

The Silverado 1500 GMT900 ran from 2007-2013 and is the last of the pushrod-simple full-size Chevys. After enough of these come across the parts counter you start to see the same short list of components over and over. Here is what owners of this generation actually end up buying, and what to know before you order.

Drivetrain and Transfer Case

The usual tell is a clunk on the transition from drive to reverse. Mileage is a rough guide here. Load, heat and road surface matter more.

Common parts in this group: transfer case encoder motors, front differential actuators, u-joints, CV axles, driveshaft center bearings.

Worth knowing: Wheel bearings on modern GM trucks carry the wheel speed sensor in the same assembly, and sensor tolerance affects ABS and stability control.

Electrical and Charging

The usual tell is a battery that tests fine at the counter but fails after sitting three days. Catch it early and it is a parts bill. Ignore it and it becomes a parts and labor bill.

Common parts in this group: batteries, battery cables, alternators, starters, body control modules.

Worth knowing: Auxiliary and stop-start systems use AGM batteries, and dropping a flooded battery in is a short path to a repeat failure.

Body and Exterior

The usual tell is a door handle that pulls with no resistance. Worth checking at the same time you rotate tires, since the wheel is already off.

Common parts in this group: mirrors, door handles, grilles, bumper covers, headlamps.

Worth knowing: Mirrors carry cameras, heaters, turn signals, blind zone modules and puddle lamps, and the wiring connector varies by content level.

Brakes

The usual tell is a grinding noise, which means the friction material is already gone. Owners who do mostly short trips see this sooner than the mileage suggests.

Common parts in this group: brake pads, brake rotors, brake calipers, brake hoses, wheel speed sensors.

Worth knowing: Aftermarket rotors are frequently thinner at the same nominal diameter, which changes heat capacity and warp behavior.

Interior

The usual tell is carpet that stays damp under a worn factory mat. How the vehicle gets used moves this interval more than the odometer does.

Common parts in this group: floor liners, carpet floor mats, console lids, seat covers, shift knobs.

Worth knowing: GM Accessories liners are laser-measured to the specific floor pan and retain the factory anchor posts, which is a safety item.

Glass and Wipers

The usual tell is a washer pump you can hear running with nothing coming out. Owners who do mostly short trips see this sooner than the mileage suggests.

Common parts in this group: wiper blades, wiper transmissions, wiper motors, washer pumps, rain sensors.

Worth knowing: Vehicles with rain sensing or heated wiper park use different assemblies.

Before You Order

  • Have the VIN ready. On a Silverado 1500 the same model year can carry two or three different engines and several suspension packages.
  • Check the SPID label in the glove box or console for your RPO codes.
  • Front and rear parts are rarely the same number, even when they look identical.
  • If the part is electrical, confirm the fit before you order. Electrical parts are not returnable at any GM dealer, including us.

We stock genuine GM parts for every nameplate on this list and ship nationwide from Dallas. Start at our Chevrolet OEM parts catalog, or search for Silverado 1500 parts if you already know what you need.
