Hunting and Off-Road Season Prep: 2018-2023 Chevrolet Traverse Checklist

Hunting and Off-Road Season Prep: 2018-2023 Chevrolet Traverse Checklist - GM Parts Club

Skid plates, lighting, liners and recovery points. Applied to a 2018-2023 Traverse, here is what that looks like.

Filters and Fluids

Watch for a diesel that derates or throws a fuel pressure code on a neglected filter. Follow the oil life monitor rather than a fixed mileage. Engine air filter every 30,000 to 45,000 miles. Transmission service intervals vary widely by transmission and by whether you tow.

Sensors, Cameras and Driver Assistance

Watch for a park assist system that disables itself in cold weather and comes back warm. TPMS sensor batteries typically last seven to ten years and are commonly replaced as a set during a tire change.

Ignition and Engine Management

Watch for fuel economy that drifts down a mile or two per gallon over a few months. Iridium plugs on most modern GM engines are a 90,000 to 100,000 mile item. Coils are replaced on failure, not on a schedule.

Interior

Watch for carpet that stays damp under a worn factory mat. Not scheduled. Replace on wear.

The Short Version

  • Oil filters: Engine size and emissions equipment change the filter, and diesel filter kits in particular are not interchangeable across model years.
  • Park assist sensors: Painted park assist sensors are ordered in primer and painted to your code. Confirm your paint code before ordering.
  • Spark plugs: The same nameplate can have three different engines in one model year. VIN is the only reliable way to get the right plug.
  • Floor liners: Interior color code matters as much as the model year. It is on the SPID label in the glove box or console.

We stock genuine GM parts for every nameplate on this list and ship nationwide from Dallas. Start at our Chevrolet OEM parts catalog, or search for Traverse parts if you already know what you need.
