The Blazer Modern Blazer ran from 2019-2023 and is C1XX crossover, not the K5. After enough of these come across the parts counter you start to see the same short list of components over and over. Here is what owners of this generation actually end up buying, and what to know before you order.
Cooling System
The usual tell is crusty orange residue around a hose clamp or the surge tank seam. The number in the manual assumes conditions most people in North Texas do not have.
Common parts in this group: radiators, water pumps, thermostats, coolant hoses, cooling fans.
Worth knowing: Surge tanks and caps are pressure-rated to the specific system, and a wrong cap is a slow way to cook a head gasket.
Brakes
The usual tell is a pulse through the pedal or the steering wheel under moderate braking. The number in the manual assumes conditions most people in North Texas do not have.
Common parts in this group: brake pads, brake rotors, brake calipers, brake hoses, wheel speed sensors.
Worth knowing: Aftermarket rotors are frequently thinner at the same nominal diameter, which changes heat capacity and warp behavior.
Exhaust and Emissions
The usual tell is an exhaust tick on cold start that quiets as the manifold expands. This is one of the items where a towing or work truck and a commuter diverge sharply.
Common parts in this group: catalytic converters, oxygen sensors, DEF injectors, diesel particulate filters, EVAP purge valves.
Worth knowing: EVAP components are leak-rate sensitive, and the monitor is comparing against a factory reference.
Heating and Air Conditioning
The usual tell is air that is cold at highway speed and warm at a stoplight. This is one of the items where a towing or work truck and a commuter diverge sharply.
Common parts in this group: cabin air filters, blower motors, blower motor resistors, A/C compressors, condensers.
Worth knowing: R-1234yf systems on newer GM vehicles use different oils and fittings than older R-134a systems.
Filters and Fluids
The usual tell is a diesel that derates or throws a fuel pressure code on a neglected filter. Catch it early and it is a parts bill. Ignore it and it becomes a parts and labor bill.
Common parts in this group: oil filters, air filters, cabin air filters, fuel filters, transmission filters.
Worth knowing: Air filter media density affects the mass airflow reading, which is a fueling input.
Sensors, Cameras and Driver Assistance
The usual tell is a lane keep or forward collision system that reports as unavailable after a windshield replacement. Heat is the accelerant on this one, which is why it shows up faster here than up north.
Common parts in this group: park assist sensors, backup cameras, blind zone modules, front camera modules, radar sensors.
Worth knowing: Camera and radar aim is a service procedure, not a bolt-on.
Before You Order
- Have the VIN ready. On a Blazer the same model year can carry two or three different engines and several suspension packages.
- Check the SPID label in the glove box or console for your RPO codes.
- Front and rear parts are rarely the same number, even when they look identical.
- If the part is electrical, confirm the fit before you order. Electrical parts are not returnable at any GM dealer, including us.
