GMC Hummer EV 2022-2024: The Parts That Actually Wear Out

The Hummer EV 1st Gen ran from 2022-2024 and is Ultium, CrabWalk, and a lot of mass. After enough of these come across the parts counter you start to see the same short list of components over and over. Here is what owners of this generation actually end up buying, and what to know before you order.

Brakes

The usual tell is a grinding noise, which means the friction material is already gone. This is one of the items where a towing or work truck and a commuter diverge sharply.

Common parts in this group: brake pads, brake rotors, brake calipers, brake hoses, wheel speed sensors.

Worth knowing: Pad compound changes brake torque, and brake torque is one of the inputs the stability control system assumes it knows.

Glass and Wipers

The usual tell is a washer pump you can hear running with nothing coming out. Heat is the accelerant on this one, which is why it shows up faster here than up north.

Common parts in this group: wiper blades, wiper transmissions, wiper motors, washer pumps, rain sensors.

Worth knowing: Windshields with acoustic interlayer, HUD or camera brackets are not interchangeable with base glass.

Electrical and Charging

The usual tell is the auto stop-start feature quietly deactivating itself. Heat is the accelerant on this one, which is why it shows up faster here than up north.

Common parts in this group: batteries, battery cables, alternators, starters, body control modules.

Worth knowing: Many recent GM vehicles need the new battery registered to the module or the charging system will keep undercharging it.

Cooling System

The usual tell is a temperature gauge that climbs in traffic and drops back on the highway. Mileage is a rough guide here. Load, heat and road surface matter more.

Common parts in this group: radiators, water pumps, thermostats, coolant hoses, cooling fans.

Worth knowing: Surge tanks and caps are pressure-rated to the specific system, and a wrong cap is a slow way to cook a head gasket.

Interior

The usual tell is carpet that stays damp under a worn factory mat. The number in the manual assumes conditions most people in North Texas do not have.

Common parts in this group: floor liners, carpet floor mats, console lids, seat covers, shift knobs.

Worth knowing: GM Accessories liners are laser-measured to the specific floor pan and retain the factory anchor posts, which is a safety item.

Filters and Fluids

The usual tell is a diesel that derates or throws a fuel pressure code on a neglected filter. How the vehicle gets used moves this interval more than the odometer does.

Common parts in this group: oil filters, air filters, cabin air filters, fuel filters, transmission filters.

Worth knowing: Dexos1 and dexos2 licensing exists because GM engines have specific requirements, and warranty language references it directly.

Before You Order

Have the VIN ready. On a Hummer EV the same model year can carry two or three different engines and several suspension packages.
Check the SPID label in the glove box or console for your RPO codes.
Front and rear parts are rarely the same number, even when they look identical.
If the part is electrical, confirm the fit before you order. Electrical parts are not returnable at any GM dealer, including us.
