Summer A/C Readiness: 2003-2025 GMC Savana Checklist

Summer A/C Readiness: 2003-2025 GMC Savana Checklist - GM Parts Club

What to check before the first hundred degree week. Applied to a 2003-2025 Savana, here is what that looks like.

Ignition and Engine Management

Watch for a check engine light that flashes under load, which means raw fuel is going into the converter. Iridium plugs on most modern GM engines are a 90,000 to 100,000 mile item. Coils are replaced on failure, not on a schedule.

Filters and Fluids

Watch for an oil life monitor that reaches zero faster than it used to. Follow the oil life monitor rather than a fixed mileage. Engine air filter every 30,000 to 45,000 miles. Transmission service intervals vary widely by transmission and by whether you tow.

Body and Exterior

Watch for a window that drops into the door or moves crookedly. Not a scheduled item. These are damage and failure replacements.

Sensors, Cameras and Driver Assistance

Watch for a park assist system that disables itself in cold weather and comes back warm. TPMS sensor batteries typically last seven to ten years and are commonly replaced as a set during a tire change.

The Short Version

  • Spark plugs: The same nameplate can have three different engines in one model year. VIN is the only reliable way to get the right plug.
  • Oil filters: Engine size and emissions equipment change the filter, and diesel filter kits in particular are not interchangeable across model years.
  • Mirrors: Trim level changes almost every exterior part. Take a photo of the connector on the part you are replacing before you order.
  • Park assist sensors: Painted park assist sensors are ordered in primer and painted to your code. Confirm your paint code before ordering.

We stock genuine GM parts for every nameplate on this list and ship nationwide from Dallas. Start at our GMC OEM parts catalog, or search for Savana parts if you already know what you need.
