GMC Sierra 1500 2019-2024: The Parts That Actually Wear Out

GMC Sierra 1500 2019-2024: The Parts That Actually Wear Out - GM Parts Club

The Sierra 1500 T1 ran from 2019-2024 and is MultiPro tailgate, available CarbonPro bed. After enough of these come across the parts counter you start to see the same short list of components over and over. Here is what owners of this generation actually end up buying, and what to know before you order.

Interior

The usual tell is carpet that stays damp under a worn factory mat. Catch it early and it is a parts bill. Ignore it and it becomes a parts and labor bill.

Common parts in this group: floor liners, carpet floor mats, console lids, seat covers, shift knobs.

Worth knowing: GM Accessories liners are laser-measured to the specific floor pan and retain the factory anchor posts, which is a safety item.

Heating and Air Conditioning

The usual tell is a musty smell for the first thirty seconds after startup. Owners who do mostly short trips see this sooner than the mileage suggests.

Common parts in this group: cabin air filters, blower motors, blower motor resistors, A/C compressors, condensers.

Worth knowing: Condenser and evaporator core dimensions are specific, and a near-fit leaks at the seal.

Brakes

The usual tell is a pedal that sits lower than it used to, or sinks slowly at a stoplight. Heat is the accelerant on this one, which is why it shows up faster here than up north.

Common parts in this group: brake pads, brake rotors, brake calipers, brake hoses, wheel speed sensors.

Worth knowing: Aftermarket rotors are frequently thinner at the same nominal diameter, which changes heat capacity and warp behavior.

Electrical and Charging

The usual tell is a slow crank on the first cold morning of the year. Worth checking at the same time you rotate tires, since the wheel is already off.

Common parts in this group: batteries, battery cables, alternators, starters, body control modules.

Worth knowing: Many recent GM vehicles need the new battery registered to the module or the charging system will keep undercharging it.

Sensors, Cameras and Driver Assistance

The usual tell is a park assist system that disables itself in cold weather and comes back warm. How the vehicle gets used moves this interval more than the odometer does.

Common parts in this group: park assist sensors, backup cameras, blind zone modules, front camera modules, radar sensors.

Worth knowing: Camera and radar aim is a service procedure, not a bolt-on.

Glass and Wipers

The usual tell is a washer pump you can hear running with nothing coming out. This is one of the items where a towing or work truck and a commuter diverge sharply.

Common parts in this group: wiper blades, wiper transmissions, wiper motors, washer pumps, rain sensors.

Worth knowing: Windshields with acoustic interlayer, HUD or camera brackets are not interchangeable with base glass.

Before You Order

  • Have the VIN ready. On a Sierra 1500 the same model year can carry two or three different engines and several suspension packages.
  • Check the SPID label in the glove box or console for your RPO codes.
  • Front and rear parts are rarely the same number, even when they look identical.
  • If the part is electrical, confirm the fit before you order. Electrical parts are not returnable at any GM dealer, including us.

Everything here is available as a genuine GM part through our GMC OEM parts catalog. If you would rather search directly, search for Sierra 1500 parts.
