CHEVROLET CAMARO HISTORY

The Chevy Camaro is a sports car that was first introduced by Chevrolet in 1966 as a direct response to the Ford Mustang. The Camaro was available as a coupe or convertible and was offered with a variety of engine options ranging from a 230 cubic inch inline-six to a 396 cubic inch V8.

FIRST GENERATION CAMARO – 66-69

The first generation Camaro, produced from 1966 to 1969, featured a sleek, muscle car design with a long hood and short deck. It was offered with a variety of engine options, including a 230 cubic inch inline-six and a variety of V8s ranging in size from 327 cubic inches to 396 cubic inches.

SECOND GENERATION CAMARO – 70-81

The second generation Camaro, produced from 1970 to 1981, featured a more squared-off design and a wider stance. Engine options during this time included a 250 cubic inch inline-six, a variety of V8s ranging in size from 307 cubic inches to 454 cubic inches, and a diesel engine option.

THIRD GENERATION CAMARO – 82-92

The third generation Camaro, produced from 1982 to 1992, featured a more aerodynamic design with pop-up headlights and a sleeker, more modern look. Engine options during this time included a 2.5-liter four-cylinder, a 3.1-liter V6, and a 5.0-liter V8.

FOURTH GENERATION CAMARO – 93-02

The fourth generation Camaro, produced from 1993 to 2002, featured a more rounded, retro-inspired design and a return to the sleek, sporty look of the first generation Camaro. Engine options during this time included a 3.4-liter V6 and a 5.7-liter V8.

FIFTH GENERATION CAMARO – 10-15

The fifth generation Camaro, introduced in 2010, is available as a coupe or convertible and features a more aggressive, modern design with a new direct-injected V6 and V8 engine options.

SIXTH GENERATION CAMARO – 16+

Throughout its history, the Camaro has been known for its powerful engines, sporty handling, and sleek, muscular design. It has been featured in numerous movies, television shows, and video games, and has become an iconic American muscle car.
