Most suspension problems announce themselves well before they strand anybody. On a 2013-2022 Encore, these are the ones worth acting on.
1. A ride height that sits lower on one corner
It rarely gets better on its own, and it usually gets louder before it gets expensive. Start by looking at shocks.
2. A clunk over expansion joints that you feel in the floor more than you hear
It rarely gets better on its own, and it usually gets louder before it gets expensive. Start by looking at control arms.
3. The body keeps moving after you cross a dip instead of settling once
By the time this is obvious you are generally replacing more than one part. Start by looking at control arms.
4. The nose diving noticeably further under braking than it did new
By the time this is obvious you are generally replacing more than one part. Start by looking at shocks.
What to Do Next
Shocks and struts are wear items. Plan on inspection at 50,000 miles and replacement somewhere between 60,000 and 100,000 depending on road quality and load.
Trim and package content matters enormously here. Off-road packages, air ride and adaptive or magnetic damping all use different parts than the base vehicle wearing the same model name.
If you are not sure which version fits your build, send us the VIN and we will confirm before anything ships. Shop our Buick OEM parts catalog or search for Encore shocks.
