The filters and fluids system on the 2019-2025 XT4 is not complicated, but it is easy to spend money in the wrong place on it. This is the version we give people at the counter.
What You Will Notice First
- A diesel that derates or throws a fuel pressure code on a neglected filter
- A slight hesitation on hard acceleration with a dirty air filter
- Reduced airflow from the vents
- An oil life monitor that reaches zero faster than it used to
None of these are emergencies on day one. All of them get more expensive if you sit on them.
The Parts Involved
- Oil filters.
- Air filters.
- Cabin air filters.
- Fuel filters.
- Transmission filters.
- Dexos engine oil.
- Differential fluid.
Why the Factory Part Matters Here
- GM oil filters are built to a specific bypass pressure and anti-drainback valve spec, which matters most on cold starts.
- Dexos1 and dexos2 licensing exists because GM engines have specific requirements, and warranty language references it directly.
- Air filter media density affects the mass airflow reading, which is a fueling input.
Service Interval
Follow the oil life monitor rather than a fixed mileage. Engine air filter every 30,000 to 45,000 miles. Transmission service intervals vary widely by transmission and by whether you tow.
Ordering Notes
Engine size and emissions equipment change the filter, and diesel filter kits in particular are not interchangeable across model years. On the XT4 specifically, trim and package content is the thing that trips people up.
Ordering is easiest if you have the VIN in front of you. Head to our Cadillac OEM parts catalog to shop by vehicle, or search for oil filters to go straight to a part.
