Chevrolet Blazer Cooling System Service Guide (2019-2025)

Chevrolet Blazer Cooling System Service Guide (2019-2025) - GM Parts Club

The cooling system system on the 2019-2025 Blazer is not complicated, but it is easy to spend money in the wrong place on it. This is the version we give people at the counter.

What You Will Notice First

  • Crusty orange residue around a hose clamp or the surge tank seam
  • A temperature gauge that climbs in traffic and drops back on the highway
  • A heater that blows cool at idle and warm at speed
  • The sweet smell of coolant after shutdown with no visible puddle

None of these are emergencies on day one. All of them get more expensive if you sit on them.

The Parts Involved

  • Radiators.
  • Water pumps.
  • Thermostats.
  • Coolant hoses.
  • Cooling fans.
  • Surge tanks.
  • Radiator caps.
  • DEX-COOL coolant.

Why the Factory Part Matters Here

  • GM cooling systems are DEX-COOL based and the seal and gasket materials are chosen for that chemistry.
  • Surge tanks and caps are pressure-rated to the specific system, and a wrong cap is a slow way to cook a head gasket.
  • Aftermarket radiators frequently use fewer rows or thinner tanks than the original, which shows up as a heat problem only when you tow.

Service Interval

GM’s long-life coolant is generally rated for 5 years or 150,000 miles on the first fill and 5 years or 100,000 miles after that. Hoses and the surge tank should be inspected annually once past 80,000 miles.

Ordering Notes

Engine, tow package and rear-A/C content all change the radiator and hose part numbers. Have the VIN ready. On the Blazer specifically, trim and package content is the thing that trips people up.

We have been selling GM parts online since 2009 and out of the Dallas store since 1956. Start with our Chevrolet OEM parts catalog, or search for radiators.
