Heating and Air Conditioning

The usual tell is a clicking or ticking behind the dash when you change temperature. How the vehicle gets used moves this interval more than the odometer does.

Common parts in this group: cabin air filters, blower motors, blower motor resistors, A/C compressors, condensers.

Worth knowing: Condenser and evaporator core dimensions are specific, and a near-fit leaks at the seal.

Filters and Fluids

The usual tell is reduced airflow from the vents. Catch it early and it is a parts bill. Ignore it and it becomes a parts and labor bill.

Common parts in this group: oil filters, air filters, cabin air filters, fuel filters, transmission filters.

Worth knowing: GM oil filters are built to a specific bypass pressure and anti-drainback valve spec, which matters most on cold starts.

Suspension

The usual tell is the nose diving noticeably further under braking than it did new. Heat is the accelerant on this one, which is why it shows up faster here than up north.

Common parts in this group: shocks, struts, control arms, ball joints, sway bar links.

Worth knowing: GM valving is tuned to the specific spring rate and curb weight of your trim, and a generic replacement changes the whole balance.

Sensors, Cameras and Driver Assistance

The usual tell is a park assist system that disables itself in cold weather and comes back warm. How the vehicle gets used moves this interval more than the odometer does.

Common parts in this group: park assist sensors, backup cameras, blind zone modules, front camera modules, radar sensors.

Worth knowing: These are calibrated devices, and the calibration lives in the module that expects a specific sensor.

Interior

The usual tell is carpet that stays damp under a worn factory mat. This is one of the items where a towing or work truck and a commuter diverge sharply.

Common parts in this group: floor liners, carpet floor mats, console lids, seat covers, shift knobs.

Worth knowing: Genuine trim matches grain and color code, which universal parts never quite do.

Drivetrain and Transfer Case

The usual tell is a hum that changes with steering input, which usually points at a wheel bearing. Owners who do mostly short trips see this sooner than the mileage suggests.

Common parts in this group: transfer case encoder motors, front differential actuators, u-joints, CV axles, driveshaft center bearings.

Worth knowing: Wheel bearings on modern GM trucks carry the wheel speed sensor in the same assembly, and sensor tolerance affects ABS and stability control.

Before You Order

Have the VIN ready. On a Camaro the same model year can carry two or three different engines and several suspension packages.
Check the SPID label in the glove box or console for your RPO codes.
Front and rear parts are rarely the same number, even when they look identical.
