The parts and accessories worth having on hand. Applied to a 2017-2023 Acadia, here is what that looks like.
Glass and Wipers
Watch for a washer pump you can hear running with nothing coming out. Blades every six to twelve months. In North Texas, summer heat kills blades faster than winter does.
Interior
Watch for carpet that stays damp under a worn factory mat. Not scheduled. Replace on wear.
Electrical and Charging
Watch for a battery that tests fine at the counter but fails after sitting three days. Batteries in Texas heat routinely give up between three and five years. Test annually after year three, before the first cold snap.
Sensors, Cameras and Driver Assistance
Watch for a backup camera image that flickers, goes blue, or shows lines. TPMS sensor batteries typically last seven to ten years and are commonly replaced as a set during a tire change.
The Short Version
- Wiper blades: Driver and passenger blades are frequently different lengths on the same vehicle.
- Floor liners: Interior color code matters as much as the model year. It is on the SPID label in the glove box or console.
- Batteries: Vehicles with stop-start often use two batteries. Confirm which one you are replacing before ordering.
- Park assist sensors: Painted park assist sensors are ordered in primer and painted to your code. Confirm your paint code before ordering.
