Winter Storm Kit: 2013-2019 Cadillac XTS Checklist - GM Parts Club

The parts and accessories worth having on hand. Applied to a 2013-2019 XTS, here is what that looks like.

Heating and Air Conditioning

Watch for air that is cold at highway speed and warm at a stoplight. Cabin air filter every 12,000 to 15,000 miles, or annually. In North Texas with construction dust and cedar season, annually is the honest number.

Ignition and Engine Management

Watch for a misfire code that follows the coil when you swap it to another cylinder. Iridium plugs on most modern GM engines are a 90,000 to 100,000 mile item. Coils are replaced on failure, not on a schedule.

Drivetrain and Transfer Case

Watch for a hum that changes with steering input, which usually points at a wheel bearing. Transfer case and differential fluid on a schedule that tightens sharply if you tow or run in dust. Wheel bearings are replaced on noise, not on mileage.

Suspension

Watch for the body keeps moving after you cross a dip instead of settling once. Shocks and struts are wear items. Plan on inspection at 50,000 miles and replacement somewhere between 60,000 and 100,000 depending on road quality and load.

The Short Version

  • Cabin air filters: Rear climate content, heated and cooled seats, and tri-zone systems all change the parts list.
  • Spark plugs: The same nameplate can have three different engines in one model year. VIN is the only reliable way to get the right plug.
  • Transfer case encoder motors: Ride height, axle ratio and locking differential content all change these numbers.
  • Shocks: Trim and package content matters enormously here. Off-road packages, air ride and adaptive or magnetic damping all use different parts than the base vehicle wearing the same model name.
