The Canyon 3rd Gen ran from 2023-2025 and is AT4X and Denali only at the top. After enough of these come across the parts counter you start to see the same short list of components over and over. Here is what owners of this generation actually end up buying, and what to know before you order.
Electrical and Charging
The usual tell is a slow crank on the first cold morning of the year. How the vehicle gets used moves this interval more than the odometer does.
Common parts in this group: batteries, battery cables, alternators, starters, body control modules.
Worth knowing: Many recent GM vehicles need the new battery registered to the module or the charging system will keep undercharging it.
Ignition and Engine Management
The usual tell is a rough idle that smooths out above 2,000 rpm. How the vehicle gets used moves this interval more than the odometer does.
Common parts in this group: spark plugs, ignition coils, camshaft position sensors, crankshaft position sensors, oxygen sensors.
Worth knowing: Coil primary resistance affects dwell, and the ECM is calibrated for the factory value.
Heating and Air Conditioning
The usual tell is a musty smell for the first thirty seconds after startup. Worth checking at the same time you rotate tires, since the wheel is already off.
Common parts in this group: cabin air filters, blower motors, blower motor resistors, A/C compressors, condensers.
Worth knowing: Condenser and evaporator core dimensions are specific, and a near-fit leaks at the seal.
Sensors, Cameras and Driver Assistance
The usual tell is a lane keep or forward collision system that reports as unavailable after a windshield replacement. Owners who do mostly short trips see this sooner than the mileage suggests.
Common parts in this group: park assist sensors, backup cameras, blind zone modules, front camera modules, radar sensors.
Worth knowing: These are calibrated devices, and the calibration lives in the module that expects a specific sensor.
Glass and Wipers
The usual tell is chattering or streaking that returns within a week of new blades. Worth checking at the same time you rotate tires, since the wheel is already off.
Common parts in this group: wiper blades, wiper transmissions, wiper motors, washer pumps, rain sensors.
Worth knowing: GM wiper arms and blades are matched to the specific windshield curvature, and length is not the only variable.
Filters and Fluids
The usual tell is a slight hesitation on hard acceleration with a dirty air filter. This is one of the items where a towing or work truck and a commuter diverge sharply.
Common parts in this group: oil filters, air filters, cabin air filters, fuel filters, transmission filters.
Worth knowing: Air filter media density affects the mass airflow reading, which is a fueling input.
Before You Order
- Have the VIN ready. On a Canyon the same model year can carry two or three different engines and several suspension packages.
- Check the SPID label in the glove box or console for your RPO codes.
- Front and rear parts are rarely the same number, even when they look identical.
- If the part is electrical, confirm the fit before you order. Electrical parts are not returnable at any GM dealer, including us.
Ordering is easiest if you have the VIN in front of you. Head to our GMC OEM parts catalog to shop by vehicle, or search for Canyon parts to go straight to a part.
