Most Replaced Parts on the 6th Gen Chevrolet Camaro (2016-2024)

Most Replaced Parts on the 6th Gen Chevrolet Camaro (2016-2024) - GM Parts Club

The Camaro 6th Gen ran from 2016-2024 and is Alpha platform, ended with the 2024 Collector Edition. After enough of these come across the parts counter you start to see the same short list of components over and over. Here is what owners of this generation actually end up buying, and what to know before you order.

Brakes

The usual tell is a squeal that shows up cold and disappears after two or three stops. Mileage is a rough guide here. Load, heat and road surface matter more.

Common parts in this group: brake pads, brake rotors, brake calipers, brake hoses, wheel speed sensors.

Worth knowing: GM friction material is matched to the specific rotor metallurgy and the ABS calibration on your vehicle.

Drivetrain and Transfer Case

The usual tell is vibration that appears above 55 mph and grows with speed. Heat is the accelerant on this one, which is why it shows up faster here than up north.

Common parts in this group: transfer case encoder motors, front differential actuators, u-joints, CV axles, driveshaft center bearings.

Worth knowing: Wheel bearings on modern GM trucks carry the wheel speed sensor in the same assembly, and sensor tolerance affects ABS and stability control.

Glass and Wipers

The usual tell is wipers that park in the wrong position. The number in the manual assumes conditions most people in North Texas do not have.

Common parts in this group: wiper blades, wiper transmissions, wiper motors, washer pumps, rain sensors.

Worth knowing: Vehicles with rain sensing or heated wiper park use different assemblies.

Electrical and Charging

The usual tell is the auto stop-start feature quietly deactivating itself. Mileage is a rough guide here. Load, heat and road surface matter more.

Common parts in this group: batteries, battery cables, alternators, starters, body control modules.

Worth knowing: Many recent GM vehicles need the new battery registered to the module or the charging system will keep undercharging it.

Filters and Fluids

The usual tell is a slight hesitation on hard acceleration with a dirty air filter. The number in the manual assumes conditions most people in North Texas do not have.

Common parts in this group: oil filters, air filters, cabin air filters, fuel filters, transmission filters.

Worth knowing: Dexos1 and dexos2 licensing exists because GM engines have specific requirements, and warranty language references it directly.

Exhaust and Emissions

The usual tell is a diesel that regenerates far more often than it used to. Mileage is a rough guide here. Load, heat and road surface matter more.

Common parts in this group: catalytic converters, oxygen sensors, DEF injectors, diesel particulate filters, EVAP purge valves.

Worth knowing: EVAP components are leak-rate sensitive, and the monitor is comparing against a factory reference.

Before You Order

  • Have the VIN ready. On a Camaro the same model year can carry two or three different engines and several suspension packages.
  • Check the SPID label in the glove box or console for your RPO codes.
  • Front and rear parts are rarely the same number, even when they look identical.
  • If the part is electrical, confirm the fit before you order. Electrical parts are not returnable at any GM dealer, including us.

We have been selling GM parts online since 2009 and out of the Dallas store since 1956. Start with our Chevrolet OEM parts catalog, or search for Camaro parts.
